Three Simple Steps to Feeling, Looking, and Being Your Happiest You
Everybody wants to be happy. And when people are happy, it shines through their faces like sunbeams. Here are the three steps that I promise will help you feel, look, and be happy:
Step 1: Self Compassion
Repeat these words as much as you need loud and clear until you believe them:
“I feel awesome. I look awesome. I think awesome. I AM awesome!”
It may feel odd at first, but after a little while it will kick in. Self-compassion gives you confidence, and confidence can make you happy. I recommend going through this process with friends, which can make it more fun.
Step 2: Excitement
Ask yourself a question:
“What am I excited for right now?”
There are many things to be excited about, no matter who you are. It can be anything, from going to bed to swimming in the pool. A friend’s birthday party, a soccer game you’ll watch on TV, playing at the playground, school, a special holiday or celebration, even brushing your teeth! Anything you are excited about, answer your own question and if you’d like to go deeper, you can ask yourself why or how you are excited. Excitement can really make you happy and ready for what’s to come. But even when you’re excited about what’s to come, remember to focus it on the now.
Step 3: Gratitude
Think about what you’re grateful for. There are so many things to be grateful for in this life, even if it is your life! Family, friends, school, or any other thing-it doesn’t have to be big, just any little thing that you can find gratitude for. A gratitude attitude will help you through many things, for there is something to be grateful for in every situation-I mean, EVERY situation.
Optional (but recommended) Step 4: DANCE!!!
Turn up some music and dance, dance, dance!
If you do this every day either in the morning or at night for the next week, it will program into your brain and I promise if you use this simple process you will become a happier version of you! π
